Complete Study Guides

Complete study guides should be considered the main projects of StpmWiki.

  • Complete study guides should encompass the complete study experience in that certain topic/subtopic, thus it should combine the contents from these 3 main components
    • Lessons in class
    • Textbook
    • Exercises/Tutorials/Revision
  • In other words, complete study guides should be written to guide student all the way from the initial virtual lesson, have all related notes (as with a textbook/revision), provide enough exercises and also guide them through it.
  • Yet another way to see it is, it should encompass all written, spoken and also the unwritten and unspoken. Basically everything that is written in books, what the teacher teaches, and what goes on inside the mind of the students.

Sub-Projects

Complete study guides are massive undertaking. A single subtopic/topic will require substantial time. Thus, it will take MANY months/years to complete a subject (or even half a subject). An alternative way to build up content for a subject is by aspects (rather than by topics). This is a more viable option especially when

  • Different contributors wants to concentrate on different aspect of the subject
  • The content is subject wide (exam tips, answering strategy, etc)

Possible Sub-Projects

  • Short Notes / Revision Notes
  • List of formulas / Definitions
  • Tutorials
  • Q&A sessions
  • Past Year Question
  • FAQ's
  • Common mistakes / Misconception
  • Tips on studying / Answering strategy / Studying Strategy / Book recommendation

Conversion Projects

To maximize the benefits of the contents in StpmWiki, conversion projects can also be undertaken. Possible conversion include:

  • word docs/ pdf docs/ books/booklets which is easier to print and distribute
  • powerpoint files to maximize presentability
  • video/sound/flash files/cd-roms

Note that when the contents are converted, it loses two of the main benefits of StpmWiki, which is its editability and always-up-to-date-ness. Thus, its best to wait for that certain content to mature before undertaking such projects. Also, any output must be labeled clearly with the date of the source.

Other Projects

Any other projects that is deemed beneficial to the STPM students and is viable to be hosted on StpmWiki can also be started. It could be something that is STPM wide, about other aspects of form 6 life... anything at all. It could also be something that uses other types of web softwares.
